Beste klanten, vrienden en medereizigers,
Na 25 mooie jaren nemen we afscheid van onze fysieke winkel en verleggen onze focus naar workshops, opleidingen, lezingen, meditaties en concerten. We gaan dan enkel nog een beperkt aanbod aan instrumenten aanbieden in het kader van onze activiteiten. Maar de winkel zoals hij nu is, met vaste openingsuren en een uitgebreid aanbod aan instrumenten, verdwijnt.
Toen we zo’n 25 jaar geleden met Merlyn begonnen, wist hier bijna niemand wat sound healing was. Mensen keken vaak wat verbaasd wanneer je het over een klankschaal had. Onze winkel groeide door de jaren heen uit zijn voegen, en begrippen als sound healing, klanktherapie, sound journey, klankbad en klankrelaxatie zijn intussen wijd ingeburgerd. Daar zijn we erg blij om.
Vandaag ziet de wereld er helemaal anders uit. Grotere spelers hebben deze markt ontdekt en het koopgedrag van mensen is sterk geëvolueerd. Onze droom met de winkel was altijd om een warme muzikale ontmoetingsplaats te creëren — een plek waar mensen samenkomen, elkaar inspireren en verbinding vinden. Een plek die bijdraagt aan ontspanning, harmonie, bewustwording, verdieping en zelfontplooiing, via klank en muziek. Maar de veranderende tijd heeft ons duidelijk gemaakt dat een fysieke winkel vandaag niet langer echt bijdraagt aan die oorspronkelijke droom. Tijd dus om het Merlyn-roer om te gooien. Het is voor ons ook een beetje zoeken hoe het nu allemaal moet. Spannend, en met momenten toch ook wel beangstigend en met veel hartzeer, maar vooral ook met veel dankbaarheid en vertrouwen. Het is de juiste beslissing, zoveel is zeker.
In de toekomst zullen we nog een beperkt aanbod aan instrumenten aanbieden in het kader van onze activiteiten. Dat betekent ook dat veel artikelen niet meer zullen terugkeren eens ze verkocht zijn — op = op. Wie nog op zoek is naar bepaalde instrumenten of artikelen, nodigen we van harte uit om nog eens langs te komen in onze winkel in Erpe-Mere. Voor sommige producten zullen er vanaf zaterdag 14 maart kortingen zijn zolang de voorraad strekt. Voorlopig blijven onze openingsuren ongewijzigd zoals ze hier terug te vinden zijn.
We blijven in de toekomst graag beschikbaar voor advies en herstellingen.
Bovenal willen we jullie bedanken. Oprecht. Aan iedereen die ons al die jaren heeft gesteund, die in ons is blijven geloven en die vaak ook onze ambassadeurs zijn geworden. Jullie vertrouwen heeft het verschil gemaakt. We voelen ons gedragen door een mooie gemeenschap van gelijkgestemden — onze ‘tribe’.
En dan zijn er natuurlijk ook onze vele medewerkers. Een oprechte dankjewel voor jullie jarenlange inzet en betrokkenheid, voor jullie glimlach, toewijding en teamspirit.
In een tijd vol uitdagingen, is verbinding belangrijker dan ooit: verbinding met elkaar, met onszelf en met de bron. Voor die verbinding willen we ons ook de komende jaren met hart en ziel blijven inzetten. Op deze website en in de komende nieuwsbrief volgt meer over onze activiteiten.

Après 25 ans, nous faisons nos adieux à notre magasin Merlyn
Chers clients, amis et compagnons de route,
Après 25 merveilleuses années, nous annonçons la fermeture de notre boutique physique pour mieux nous concentrer sur des ateliers, des formations, des conférences, des méditations et des concerts. À partir de maintenant, nous proposerons qu’une sélection limitée d’instruments dans le cadre de ces activités. Mais la boutique telle qu’elle est aujourd’hui, avec ses horaires fixes et une large gamme d’instruments, disparaît.
Il y a environ 25 ans, quand nous avons lancé Merlyn, le concept du sound healing, la guérison par le son était encore un mystère pour beaucoup. Les gens avaient souvent un regard étonné quand on parlait de bols chantants. Au fil des ans, notre magasin a pris de l’ampleur, et des concepts tels que la guérison par le son, la thérapie sonore, le voyage sonore, le bain sonore et la relaxation par le son sont aujourd’hui largement adoptés. Nous en sommes très heureux.
Aujourd’hui, le monde a bien changé. De grands acteurs ont découvert ce secteur et le comportement d’achat des gens a considérablement évolué. Notre rêve avec le magasin a toujours été de créer un lieu de rencontre musical chaleureux, un endroit où les gens se retrouvent et s’inspirent. Un lieu qui contribue à la détente, à l’harmonie, à la conscience de soi, à l’approfondissement et à l’épanouissement personnel, à travers le son et la musique. Mais le temps qui change nous a clairement montré que le magasin physique ne contribue plus vraiment à ce rêve tel qu’il était. Il est donc temps pour Merlyn de prendre un nouveau cap. C’est aussi un peu chercher pour nous comment tout cela doit se faire. Excitant, un peu effrayant et parfois triste, mais surtout, nous ressentons une immense gratitude et une confiance inébranlable. C’est la bonne décision, c’est certain.
À l’avenir, nous proposerons encore une sélection limitée d’instruments dans le cadre de nos activités. Cela signifie également que de nombreux articles ne seront plus disponibles une fois épuisés – premier arrivé, premier servi. Si vous êtes à la recherche d’un instrument particulier, n’hésitez pas à nous rendre visite dans notre boutique à Erpe-Mere. Pour certains produits, des réductions seront disponibles à partir de samedi 14 mars, jusqu’à épuisement des stocks. Nos horaires restent les mêmes pour l’instant, consultez ce site pour les détails.

After 25 years, we are saying goodbye to our Merlyn shop
Dear customers, friends and fellow travellers,
After an incredible 25 years, it’s time for us to say goodbye to our physical shop, shifting our focus on workshops, training sessions, lectures, meditations and concerts. We will still offer a limited selection of instruments as part of our activities, but the shop as you know it – with fixed hours and a huge selection – is coming to an end.
When we started Merlyn some 25 years ago, sound healing was pretty much a mystery to most people. Mentioning a singing bowl would get you some raised eyebrows! Over the years, our shop has expanded beyond our wildest dreams, and concepts such as sound healing, sound therapy, sound journey, sound bath and sound relaxation have now become widely established. For that, we couldn’t be more grateful.
Today, the world looks very different. Bigger players have discovered this market and people’s buying habits have shifted significantly. Our dream has always been to create a warm, musical gathering spot — a place where people come together, inspire one another, and connect. A space that contributes to relaxation, harmony and personal growth through music and sound. However, these changing times have made it clear that a physical shop no longer truly contributes to that original dream. So, we’re steering Merlyn in a new direction. It’s still a bit of a search for us to figure out how everything should proceed from here. Exciting, and at times also frightening and heartbreaking, but above all, it’s a time of gratitude and trust. It’s the right move, that much is certain.
In the future, we will continue to offer a limited selection of instruments as part of our activities. This also means that many items will not be restocked once they are sold — once they’re gone, they’re gone. If you’re on the hunt for specific instruments or items, we warmly invite you to swing by our shop in Erpe-Mere. Starting Saturday, March 14th, we’ll have discounts on select products while stocks last. For now, our opening hours will remain unchanged as stated here on our website.
We will still be available for advice and repairs in the future.
Most importantly, we want to thank you. Sincerely. To everyone who has supported us over the years, believed in us and has become our ambassadors — you’ve made a huge difference. We feel blessed and supported by a wonderful community of like-minded souls — our “tribe”.
And then, of course, there is our fantastic staff and team of collaborators. A heartfelt thank you for your dedication and commitment, for your smiles and team spirit over the years.
